About CAITR™
CAITR™ (Certified AI Trainer) is an independent professional designation created and maintained by aitrainers.jobs, a directory of paid AI training work. It launched in 2026. It is not a government-issued qualification or a regulated qualification, and no platform formally recognises it.
The five specialist tracks mirror the kinds of work listed on aitrainers.jobs: evaluation and rating, work in an expert field, coding and agents, language and audio, and safety. The modules follow what those listings ask people to do, and we review them as the work changes. Every change is listed under Versions.
The examination standard
- The papers. Foundation and each specialist track end with a timed examination drawn at random from a larger bank, so every attempt is a different paper. About a third of the marks come from scenario questions and two thirds from hands-on tasks.
- The pass mark is 70% on every examination. It is an overall mark: a strong result in one part can make up for a weaker one, and no single question or criterion has to be passed on its own.
- Who can take part. You must be 18 or over to have a CAITR™ account and to hold the designation. A designation awarded to anyone under 18 is void, even if every other requirement was met: if we learn of it, we revoke it and cancel the results it relied on.
- Order. Start with Foundation: the specialist examinations open once you’ve passed it. Every lesson is open from the start.
- Attempts. Two attempts at each examination are included, and starting a paper uses one. Further attempts are charged at the price on the pricing page. There is no waiting time between attempts.
- Time. Each examination has a set time, shown before you start and on the examination page, with more if you need extra time (see Adjustments). Your answers are saved as you go, and when time runs out the paper is marked as it stands.
- What help is allowed. You may use the CAITR™ lessons, your own notes and a calculator. AI tools, search engines and help from anyone else are not allowed, and using them can cancel your results. Examination content is confidential: see the terms.
How marking works
- Set answers, such as multiple-choice questions, are marked automatically against the answer key.
- Written answers are marked by AI against the task’s criteria, which you see with the task while you answer. Two independent AI models mark every answer. Where they agree on every criterion and neither flags the answer, that mark stands; anything they disagree on or flag is decided by a third, more capable model. No mark is decided by a person, unless you ask for a person’s review (see Appeals and problems).
- Your results show a mark and a reason for every criterion of every task.
- Checking the marking. Before launch we tested the marking on 200 practice answers that an AI model wrote to a known standard: the two markers matched the intended marks on 99% of criteria, and the cases they got wrong were among those they disagreed on, which go to the deciding model. Answers written by an AI are easier to mark than real candidates’, so this is a best case, not a measure of accuracy in real use; we will publish figures from real candidates once there are enough. We keep track of how often the two markers agree, and reword any criterion they often disagree on.
Appeals and problems
- Appeals. You can appeal each paper once, from your results, saying what you think was marked wrongly. The deciding model marks the paper’s written answers again with your note in mind. An appeal can only raise a mark, never lower it. The result of the appeal is final as far as AI re-marking goes; you can still ask for a person to review the result, and they can change it.
- A person’s review. Because results are decided automatically, you can also ask for a person to review a decision about you, as our privacy notice explains: use “ask a person to review your result” on your results, or email [email protected].
- Complaints. Use “make a complaint” on your course page, or email [email protected]. We acknowledge every complaint within 30 days and tell you what we will do.
- A problem with a question. If a question or task seems wrong or unclear, use the “Report a problem” link beside it in your results, or email [email protected]. If we find a fault, we correct the marks of everyone affected.
Adjustments
- Extra time. If a disability or long-term health condition affects how quickly you can work, tick “I need extra time” before you start an examination. You get 25% more time, rounded to the nearest 5 minutes, as a reasonable adjustment under the Equality Act 2010. You don’t need to give a reason or any proof. Every examination’s time, with and without extra time, is on the examination page.
- Other adjustments. If you need anything else, or more time than that, email [email protected] before you start, and we will work out with you what we can do.
The designation
- It is awarded only when every requirement is met: be 18 or over, pass Foundation, pass any 2 specialist tracks, sign the Code of Conduct, and pay the one-off designation fee shown on the pricing page. There are no grades and no partial designations.
- Results on the way are recorded, but don’t confer the designation on their own. You may state them as facts, such as “Passed the CAITR™ Foundation examination, 2026”.
- CAITR™ Candidate. Once you have passed Foundation, you may describe yourself as a “CAITR™ Candidate” while you work towards the designation.
- The approved form is your name followed by the designation: Jane Smith, CAITR™, used only while your designation is active. Specialisms may be listed separately, as in “CAITR™ specialisms: Evaluation & RLHF, Coding & Agents”.
- The name and logo. Holders may show their certificate, link to their verify page and add the LinkedIn credential. Don’t alter the CAITR™ logo, use it as your own branding, or use it to suggest that aitrainers.jobs or any platform endorses your services.
Renewal
- What it is. Once a year, Holders make a free statement confirming that they have kept, and will keep, to the Code of Conduct.
- If it’s missed. The designation stays active for 30 days after the statement falls due. After that it shows as lapsed on the verify page, and you may not use the designation until you renew. Renewing at any time makes it active again.
- Continuing development. There is no continuing-education requirement in standard 2026.1. If one is ever added, it will be announced well in advance.
Suspension and revocation
- Reporting misuse. Anyone can report suspected misuse of the designation, a false claim to hold it or a credential obtained dishonestly, from a credential’s verify page or by emailing [email protected].
- Suspension. While we look into credible evidence of a serious problem, we may suspend a designation; the verify page then shows it as not valid at the moment, without giving a reason. We tell the Holder first and give them a chance to respond.
- Revocation. Where aitrainers.jobs receives credible evidence that a Holder or candidate may have breached this Code, it will notify the person concerned of the matter in writing and give them a reasonable opportunity to respond before reaching a decision. A breach found to be serious may result in the suspension or revocation of the designation, in which event the credential’s verification page will record that it is no longer valid. Results obtained dishonestly, for example with outside help or by someone else taking the examination, are cancelled, and a designation that relied on them is revoked.
Fees and payment
- What you pay for. Lessons, practice quizzes and the attempts included at each examination are free. You pay for a further attempt at an examination, and the one-off designation fee once you have met every other requirement. The prices are on the pricing page, and tax is added at checkout where it applies.
- Prices by country. The fee depends on the country you are in, which we work out from your internet connection when you pay. You can pay in any of 10 currencies (USD, EUR, GBP, INR, CAD, AUD, JPY, CHF, BRL, MXN). The price in each one is the same fee converted and rounded, and it stays the same whatever address you enter at checkout. Only the tax can change, because it depends on where you live.
- The founding price. The first 100 designation fees paid are charged at a lower founding price. After that, the standard prices apply. Founding Holders keep the Founding Holder tag on their profile and certificate for as long as they hold the designation.
- Who you buy from. Payments are handled by Paddle.com, our reseller and the merchant of record: Paddle takes the payment, charges any tax, sends your receipt and processes refunds. Paddle’s buyer terms apply to the payment as well as these policies.
- When you get it. A further attempt is ready to start as soon as your payment is confirmed. After paying the designation fee, you choose the name for your certificate and your designation is issued straight away.
Refunds and cancellation
- A further attempt you haven’t started. You can cancel it for a full refund within 14 days of paying, as long as you haven’t started the paper.
- A designation fee before your designation is issued. You can cancel it for a full refund within 14 days of paying, as long as you haven’t yet claimed your designation.
- Once you start the paper or your designation is issued, you can no longer cancel. These are digital services you ask us to provide straight away. When you pay, you agree to that and accept that your right to cancel ends once we provide them. This is the exception UK and EU consumer law makes for digital content and services.
- When something goes wrong on our side. If a fault of ours stops you taking a paper you paid for, or you are charged twice, we give you a new attempt or a full refund, whichever you prefer, at any time.
- Revoked or suspended designations. A designation withdrawn under Suspension and revocation isn’t refunded, and nor are results cancelled for breaking the examination rules.
- How to ask. Email [email protected] with the payment reference from your receipt (it starts PAY-), or use the link in Paddle’s receipt email. Refunds go back to the card or account you paid with, in the currency you paid in, usually within 5 to 10 working days.
- Your legal rights as a consumer are not affected by any of this.
Versions
When the curriculum, examinations or these rules change, the standard gets a new version. Holders keep their designation, and their record shows the version they passed.
| Version | Date | What changed |
|---|---|---|
| 2026.1 | October 2026 | First version: Foundation and five specialist tracks, a 70% pass mark on every examination, AI marking with a deciding model and one appeal per paper, and the Code of Conduct (version 2026-10). |
