You apply to an open project; CrowdGen then emails you instructions to set up your account, and most projects require a qualification.
Is the assessment paid? It depends on the programme: CrowdGen says its expert domain qualification is paid for your time, while its general project FAQ says time spent on qualification tasks is not billable.

Resultados y repeticiones
- Qualification results are emailed. It typically takes 1 to 2 weeks after qualifying to get a project invite, and if a project is full you are kept on a reserve list until a spot opens. (crowdgen.com)
- Retakes: In most cases you get one chance to qualify for a project; if you fail, the project is removed from your list and you cannot work on it, but you can try to qualify for other projects. (crowdgen.com)
