ParaView Specialist

Opportunity Overview
Handshake is recruiting scientific visualization specialists with experience in data analysis and visualization tools such as ParaView to contribute to an AI research project. In this project, you’ll apply your expertise to help improve how AI understands real-world professional tasks within your domain, such as visualizing simulation results, post-processing scientific data, and building reproducible visualization pipelines. This is an ongoing, project-based opportunity you can take on alongside your current role.
What You’ll Do

• Use your scientific visualization experience to create tasks that today’s top AI models can’t solve based on real workflows, such as loading and filtering simulation data, volume and surface rendering, slicing and contouring, streamlines and vector fields, Python scripting with pvpython, and batch processing of large datasets

• Review and evaluate AI-generated responses

• Provide clear, structured written feedback to help improve AI model performance

• Work remotely and complete tasks at your own pace, with no set schedule or minimum hour requirement

Qualifications

• Degree : Completed Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field, such as Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related discipline

• Tool experience : At least 2 years of work experience using ParaView

Additional qualifications (not required, but strengthen your application)

• Experience across multiple visualization or simulation tools and workflows, such as VisIt, VTK, Python (NumPy, Matplotlib), CFD or FEA solvers (OpenFOAM, ANSYS), or running ParaView on HPC clusters

• Professional experience in a research lab, national lab, engineering firm, or simulation-driven industry, or a portfolio of published figures, papers, or visualization work

Required for all applicants

• Must have US work authorization

• Strong written communication and attention to detail

• Ability to explain complex scientific visualization concepts clearly

• Ability to work independently in a remote, asynchronous environment
